Standards & Assessment & Accountability

Goal: All teachers will use a wide range of assessment information to modify curriculum and instruction to improve student achievement of the California Academic Content Standards that lead to life-long learning.

Priorities:

* Teachers will design individualized instruction based on Entry-Level Assessment data for each student for each California Academic Content Standards.
* Teachers will regularly administer both Formative and Summative Assessments and revise instruction based on an analysis of student achievement data.
* Teachers will use Multiple Measures and rubrics that provide comprehensive diagnostic information to guide and improve instruction in the core curriculum.
* Teachers will utilize portfolios for each student to maintain detailed records of assessment results for each State Standard.
* Teachers will inform students and parents of the State Standards and the criteria for levels of proficiency for each standard.
* All staff will plan programs to prepare students to be successful on the High School Exit Exam.
* Teachers will implement English Language Development Standards.
* School staff will implement a campus-wide student data management system that captures academic trend data for subgroups of students.
* School staff will continue the development of a standardized grading system in Standards-Based Education teams.

Teaching and Learning

Goal: Provide a comprehensive curriculum aligned with California Academic Content Standards to all students across all grade levels in all curriculum areas.

Goal: Use varied instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students.

Priorities:

* Improve eloquence across grade levels by subject matter including mathematics, language arts, science and history/social science.
* Establish consistent procedures and expectations for the development and review of long-range and weekly teacher lesson plans.
* Develop/select/use efficient classroom methodologies consistent with the CSDR Communication Philosophy to provide students the skills necessary to meet the California Academic Content Standards.
* Develop/select/use efficient materials to provide students the skills necessary to meet the California Academic Content Standards.
* Expand and refine instructional alternatives for special needs learners.
* Promote the integration of real-life and meaningful experiences into core curriculum classes.
* Evaluate/examine the structure of the educational day to maximize student achievement.

Technology

Goal: Integrate technology throughout the instructional program to enhance the quality of education for all students.

Priorities:

* Ensure that students acquire technology skills and have equitable access to improve and enhance understanding of the curriculum as identified in the California Academic Content Standards.
* Enhance instructional strategies and assessment to make better use of existing available technology and software for both teachers and students.
* Develop a campus-wide system to explore and expand available technological resources
* Plan for growth over the current technological capabilities both in the classroom and for management purposes.
* Develop and implement a plan to support improved mathematics, reading, and writing through the use of technology.
* Develop and implement a plan to apply for Digital High School grants.
* Expand the site support systems through identification and training of qualified staff members.

Professional Development

Goal: Schedule frequent staff development opportunities which will provide teachers with the skills to help students achieve California Academic Content Standards and become life-long learners.

Goal: Relate staff development to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CTSP).

Priorities:

* Train teachers and administrators in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.
* Train teachers to integrate CSDR’s Communication Philosophy in the classroom to improve student achievement.
* Train teachers to increase student achievement in algebra to enable students to meet graduation requirements.
* Offer training and follow-up analysis of student achievement data and the development of strategies to revise assessment, curriculum, and instruction to improve student achievement.
* Develop a Mentor Assistance and Review Program.
* Develop a new teacher support program.
* Emphasize staff development that provides on-going training, follow-up, and peer coaching.
* Provide time for collegial collaboration, sharing, discussion, and professional development.
* Have teachers participate in decision-making through Standards-Based Education teams, textbook adoption groups, and site leadership committees.

Parent & Community Involvement

Goal: Offer families and community members a variety of options for contributing to the success of all students, the staff, and the school.

Priorities:

* Promote student learning through parent/family training and educational opportunities.
* Enhance family and community relationships through reciprocal communication regarding all aspects of education
* Support and increase the effectiveness of existing organizations and committees such as PTA and CAC that contribute to the educational program.
