The elementary department has a Literacy Lab, which serves as a reading intervention program for selected 1st, and 2nd grade students meeting certain criteria. These selected students get additional support to accelerate their reading skills by having 30 minutes of one-to-one instruction daily in the lab. They become equipped with reading strategies to help overcome reading difficulties and become better and effective readers.
There are also a vast variety of leveled and non-leveled books for classroom teachers to check out for student usage in their classrooms. Parents of elementary may come to check out books for home reading for their children through their classroom teachers. This is a great opportunity to have reading togetherness, and develop a love for reading.
