CSDR’s Career Awareness Day provides countless opportunities for enthusiastic participants to make us aware of deaf professionals such as business owners, health counselors, social service workers and many more! Students will attend class sessions that will explain the coursework and requirements to practice in select professions, meet professionals who will share their day-to-day experiences, and participate in a questions and answers session.

CSDR recognizes that we continuously need more deaf professionals in various fields. It is essential to our deaf community that we teach our youth that they can compete and succeed in what have traditionally been “hearing” professions. Success in a career also carries over to a successful personal life by allowing for a comfortable lifestyle through marriage, family, socialization, recreation. We are committed to instilling a stronger work ethic in today’s youth.

Through this program high school students learn to recognize the real life applications of their studies and course work, while also gaining direction in career preparation.

We have recently implemented a math tutoring program in which we match our struggling students with their peers who have excelled in math. With the approval of our math teachers, we have created a list of student tutors who are ready to assist other students! We hope this program will increase the student tutors’ confidence while helping other students to improve their grades! The best part is that hopefully, with this program, CSDR students will be helping other students to pass the CAHSEE exams.
