CHARACTER COUNTS! WEEK, is a powerful way to build community around enduring common values. No matter what we are and who we are – such as political or religious affiliation, different background, ethnics and cultures, CHARACTER COUNTS is all about the values we all share. The values are the “Six Pillars of Character”; TRUSTWORTHINESS, RESPECT, RESPONSBILITY, FAIRNESS, CARING and CITIZENSHIP.
We will have CHARACTER COUNTS! week from September 27 to October 5. During this week we will be celebrating good character. It is to highlight the year-round importance of the Six Pillars of Character.
We will celebrate a pillar on each day starting on September 27, Thursday. We are asking the students and staff at California School for the Deaf to wear a top in the pillar color on each day. They are:
September 27: Trustworthiness – BLUE
September 28: Respect – YELLOW
October 1: Responsibility – GREEN
October 2: Fairness – ORANGE
October 3: Citizenship – PURPLE
October 4: Caring – RED
October 5: Pillar Day – pick your favorite color or use all colors.
On each day, I will be sending a quote, thought and/or an idea for activity everyone can use on this campus.
